The Best Kept Secret in the Cybersecurity Industry who Work with Interpol and Protect 70+ Nations

One of the most common responses Team Cymru’s Lewis Henderson gets when he introduces the company he works for is ‘that’s interesting – but we’ve never heard of you’.

But the reality is Team Cymru has been at the forefront of fighting cybersecurity on a global stage for the past three decades; working with 7/10 biggest UK and US banks, three of the world’s largest organisations, Interpol and 70+ CSIRTs (Computer Security Incident Response Teams) that use data to keep nations safe.

So how does a company with such high-profile clients keep such a low profile? To find out, Cyber Fusion Distribution’s Life’s A Breach podcast sat down with Lewis, Director of Product Marketing, and colleague David Roberts, Channel Sales Manager EMEA, to find out.

“A lot of the legacy of our organisation goes back to providing what we do to governments and a lot of that work tends to happen behind closed doors,” explained Lewis.

“There was just never a need to go external to promote the brand. Then about four or five years ago, the decision was made that we could go to market with an alternate take on it, different types of products etc, so really for us the last four years has been about getting our products geared up and ready for market and we have had some really interesting success.”

Despite the Welsh name, the company has its headquarters in Florida, USA, with teams around the world – but in 2025 it is broadening out further across Europe, Asia and Australia as it moves outside of its direct heritage to grow its channel and partners.

So what makes Team Cymru so unique – and so in demand? Lewis said: “On average, every day we ingest anywhere between 250-300 billion IP to IP Communications and as an organisation we go through the process of refining that data but also enriching that data – that’s really ‘the secret sauce’.

“The scale of the data is one thing but we then build accuracy and precision into that data, helping to get really specific insights out of that as well.

“You’ll see us involved with active operations with Interpol, leading to arrests, and we’re definitely really grateful for that opportunity. That’s very much us out there absolutely doing that.”

David Roberts is new to the business this year – but almost turned down the opportunity to interview for the role because even he hadn’t heard of Team Cymru, despite 25+ experience in cybersecurity.

Several months into the job, he now believes Team Cymru is ‘the best kept secret’ in the industry and says the advantage of having such a legacy gives the business instant credibility with prospective partners.

“We’re not like a start-up where we don’t have customers, we don’t have any revenue, we don’t have any kind of legacy – we’ve got all of that,” he said. “So it’s really exciting for me to be able to talk to partners about something that’s really unique.

“We’re not displacing anything else – I think there’s an opportunity for partners to talk to all of their customers about what we do.

“Any organisation that really wants to take threat reconnaissance to the next level and really do something special and unique could be a customer.”

Another area of cybersecurity leading to a ‘big uptake in consulting services’ according to the duo is the introduction of the Dora and NIS2 legislation.

Lewis said the changes present a huge opportunity for the channel. He added: “Organisations are looking at this legislation, then looking at their existing capabilities and finding significant gaps.

“I think that’s the opportunity for the channel to come in and say, ‘how are we helping our customers identify these gaps?’ and then the responsibility falls back on us as vendors to help channel partners to understand the gaps before you get the technology to plug them.”

“As Team Cymru we’re very well positioned to fulfil some of these very specific articles – this is like the hit list of all our use cases.”
